Project overview
The Glasgow Observatory is a research site designed to observe how warm water moves around abandoned mine workings over time and to monitor changes in chemistry and to the physical and microbiological properties of the environment below the surface. Peak Mechanical services were appointed to manufacture the research centre at their offices in Doncaster.
The project included the supply and installation of three plate heat exchangers with a building management system to collate the relevant data. The data will help assist the British Geological Survey to understand the processes and impacts of this heat source and potential heat store as a sustainable way of heating homes and businesses in the future.
